This year I wanted to do something a little different for Valentine's day, so I threw a dinner party. I had so much fun doing it, and i think it turned out great!
Appetizer table...
Strawberry topiary with fruit dip
Shrimp cocktail in disposable champagne flutes
Table set up
A very blurry group shot, still learning how to use my camera. :)
I won't embarrass our husbands by posting the video I took of them singing and giving us flowers. Cheesy, yes. Did we love it, of course!!
I didn't even take any pictures of the food that I spent all day cooking! Oh well! The menu included, grilled new york strip steak, smoked salmon, roasted potatoes and asparagus, spinach citrus salad with candied almonds, and creme brulee for dessert!
Funny story about the dessert... if you are serving creme brulee to a large crowd, do not think that your little kitchen torch that puts out a flame about the size of a match will do the trick. Craig to the rescue. He went and grabbed his plumbing torch. A little over kill, but hey, it worked.
It was so much fun, I just might make it a tradition!
I have the greatest friends, they took my kids all day so I could get ready for the party. I was home all by myself cooking, cleaning, and decorating and it was a great day! I know, I'm weird.
